This group exhibition is centered on studying how artists today see and depict the contemporary natural landscape and further, discovering what these images say about our world overall. This entails observing, as well as challenging, the constantly shifting, reforming, and even depleting environment around us through the lens of contemporary artists’ various methods. The paintings, drawings, photographs, textiles, and digital art presented will all ruminate upon the nuanced ways artists approach the representation of landscapes in this day and age.

Some of the exhibiting artists in MCMA’s “Contemporary Landscapes” group exhibition will present a sit-down Artist Talk in the Main Galleries on Sunday May 29 at 1:00pm. Each artist will discuss their personal practice, as well as their involvement and goals concerning the “Contemporary Landscapes” exhibition. Join MCMA for this free and open to the public educational event that will explore these artists’ approach to the representation of landscapes in this day and age.
