MCMA Internship Application & Deadlines

MCMA offers competitive unpaid internships for academic credit for undergraduate students. Interns will gain practical, hands-on experience with the inner mechanisms of an art museum and its varied collection. Students take priority, but MCMA also offers unpaid internships for those not currently enrolled in school.

MCMA Internship Application & Timelines

Application Process

Prospective interns should complete the MCMA Internship Interest Form and email completed form and résumé to Madeline@mariettacobbartmuseum.org. Museum staff will evaluate submissions and contact applicants selected for interviews. Interviews may be conducted in person at the Museum or via videoconference. 1-2 Interns will be selected per session.

2026 Deadlines

2027 Deadlines

  • Spring 2027 – Application Deadline: October 15th, 2026*
  • Summer 2027 – Application Deadline: February 15th, 2027*
  • Fall 2027 – Application Deadline: May 15th, 2027*

*Students intending to receive school credit for internships should review their respective school’s timelines/deadlines, and submit applications accordingly.

Intern Projects

MCMA interns gain experience in a wide array of areas, from art handling to nonprofit administration, and more. As such, the program offers flexibility in terms of intern projects. Some of the tracts that previous interns have taken part in are listed below. Accepted interns work with MCMA staff to determine specific intern projects in a given session. Please note that descriptions are meant to provide a general overview of intern projects and are not exhaustive. Prospective interns should be comfortable with taking part in the day-to-day operations of a small art museum, as needed.

    • Exhibitions – Assist in the preparation of upcoming exhibitions and with installation of exhibitions. Conduct condition reports, research works in the Permanent Collection.
    • Education – Provide administrative support for Art Camps, assist with Education outreach.
    • Administrative – Provide support for general and/or regular museum needs, including special events, and assist with operational work across all departments.
