Traditional Chinese Brush Painting
Traditional Chinese watercolor painting is called guohua. There are many different styles of guohua, but most look similar to Chinese calligraphy writing.
Materials:
watercolor paint
watercolor paper
rice paper
brushes
water

Directions:
Choose watercolor or rice paper for your first painting. Look at the list of Chinese words and choose one. Paint a picture of that thing or idea (without drawing first).
When your picture is complete, paint the Chinese character in black nearby. (You might have to wait for your paper to dry first.)
Choose a different word and paint another picture, this time on the other kind of paper. Does the paint act differently?
