ARTBotics… a fusion in coding, crafting, and invention, using the Hummingbird Bit Robotics Kit!
Create and code* a robot that moves, lights up, makes you laugh, and challenges you to be inventive. Each camper will design and decorate a 3-D piece of art using recycled materials, then wire a controller with LEDs, motors, and sensors. Our daily challenge is to make the bot come ALIVE! Our projects will include art skills, inventing, crafting, and basic block programming using MakeCode. Gail Tate of AvezSelect runs a similar camp at Georgia Tech. Click here to watch a video from one of Gail’s workshops.
* This camp is intended for beginners with little or no experience in coding. More experienced coders are welcome to join the group, but some lessons may be below their skill level.
Supplies: Each camper gets a box of art materials, tools, and a Hummingbird Bit robotics kit! (This kit is reprogrammable, so students will be able to learn more about code and robotics after camp is over.)
Technology Requirements: Each camper needs to have daily access to both a Zoom video learning setup and a Bluetooth-enabled device compatible with the Hummingbird coding app. The app works with:
– Windows XP / Windows 10
– Mac iOS 10.6.8 and newer
– iPad 3 and newer
– some Android devices
– some Kindle devices

(Chose “MakeCode” for the programming language.)
