Design a moving 3-D sculpture using a fusion of art, design, and easy-to-learn robotics! Expand your artistic toolkit by learning block programming and bring your creation to life with LEDs, motors, and sensors. We’ll create 2-D pieces based on masterworks — or your own original art — and turn them into energized 3-D sculptures. Not really sure what that means? Click here to watch a video with examples.
No prior experience with robotics, coding, or programming required. Bring your own smartphone or tablet. (Your device must be able to run the BirdBlox programming app, which is available for Apple iOS and Android. Specs and free download available here: BirdBlox App.)
Your registration fee includes art supplies and the loan of a Hummingbird Bit robotics base kit. At the end of the workshop, you will dismantle your sculpture and return the kit to the instructor. (The artwork parts will go home with you.) If you want a robotics kit to keep, you must pre-order it through MCMA by 5:00pm on January 20.
Please bring a bag lunch. (There is food nearby, but leaving will cut into your programming time.)
