Making art outdoors — “en plein air” — comes with its own joys and challenges. This class will focus on observation, quick gesture studies, value, and perspective. The first two weeks will focus exclusively on drawing. (Returning students are welcome to continue their color studies from Week 3 forward.) Students will gather on the front steps of MCMA with the instructor, and walk as a group to that day’s drawing location. Guardians can pick students up from MCMA after class.

October 24 is the scheduled end date, but please keep your schedule clear through at least November 7 — we expect to be rained out a few times. All dates cancelled due to weather will be added to the end of the session until we get to six actual classes.

** Even though ventilation is better outdoors, masks are still STRONGLY ENCOURAGED during class. The Square is a public place and many visitors are not diligent about social distancing. **
