A drawing class geared toward teenage artists looking to develop their portfolio, mature their technique, and strengthen foundational drawing skills. This course is an excellent choice for high school AP Studio Art students needing to boost their work and experiment with their portfolios.
Students work on a mixture of class assignments and individual projects. The traditional principles of drawing are incorporated, and each project moves students further along in their development. We draw from life whenever possible, and also work from photo references. We incorporate classical techniques but also experiment to benefit student creativity.
Beginner to intermediate students will draft outlines with grids to learn and aid with proportional perspective. We will work large (18″ x 24″) and focus our materials on graphite/charcoal to build a good understanding of value before we move on to color.
No two sessions are alike, so new students and returning students are both encouraged to attend.
