Oil Painting - Ages 16+
Learn the basics of Oil Painting at MCMA! We will be discussing color mixing, color theory, underpainting, form and value. This class has a process focused approach to art, allowing students to explore and express themselves with color and intuitive mark making. Students will be guided through the basic techniques and how to choose subject material–painting from still life and reference photos.
Cost: $270 for not yet members, $250 for members *All supplies are included.

Our Painting and Drawing Open Studios offer a flexible, supportive environment where students can work at their own pace on personal projects!
Meet the Instructor
Ashley Livingston is an oil painter and printmaker from Alabama. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, concentrating in Painting and Printmaking. Her oil paintings often focus on endangered animals, and she aims to create work that spurs conversation about community and cultivating harmonious relationships with nature.
She is currently teaching the museum’s youth programs: MCMA Art Camps, Preschool Art, Sunday Art School, Teen Media, and Special Needs Art Enrichment. As well as adult classes for Printmaking, Oil painting, and Senior Art Enrichment.
