Beginning Pastel Drawing

Cost: $235 for members, $255 for not-yet-members
No experience required. Ages 14 and up
Please note that pastels may stain clothing.
Come explore a more gestural, loose, and fast way to draw with pastels. You will learn about the power of underpainting with vibrant colors and how to choose colors to complete a pastel drawing quickly. Deep dive into different techniques unique to the soft pastel drawing medium, such as drawing stroke techniques, liquifying pastels for more painterly effects, alternate pastel tools, and pastel drawing surfaces.
Meet the Artist - Cameron Hampton
Cameron Hampton is a Masters Circle Member of the International Association of Pastel Societies, earning her Gold Medal in the Spring of 2007. She has exhibited in over 150 exhibitions and is a painter, photographer, sculptor, cinematographer, animator, and illustrator. Hampton has works in corporate and private collections throughout the world and has been represented by galleries in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Marietta, Georgia and Mexico City, Mexico to name a few.
Drawing & Painting Open Studio
Do you enjoy drawing at your own pace? Our Drawing and Painting Open Studios offer a flexible, supportive environment where students can work at their own pace on personal projects. With the freedom to experiment and explore different 2D mediums, students receive individualized guidance from our teachers, who provides expert feedback and direction tailored to each artist’s needs.
Cost: $50
Supplies are included in class fee. Students are welcome to bring additional materials.
